How It All Started

Since 1999, Connie Nebuda,  owner of Creative Notions, has been offering customers a great opportunity to shop for quilting fabrics and patterns plus many other gift items and ideas.

Deb Busch originally opened Creative Notions in 1996.  This filled the void that had been left when the previous fabric shop closed in 1991.  Connie purchased the shop from Deb in 1999.  Connie had been sewing since she was around eight years old.  Her Mom sewed, so did her grandmother, her aunts, and there were also those years spent in 4-H.

Creative Notions Today

Creative Notions carries a large selection of 100% cotton fabrics from quality manufacturers (Moda, Blank, Quilting Treasures, Kaufman, Hoffman, Benartex, Classic Cottons, Marcus Bros., Micheal Miller, Northcott, P&B, RJR, South Seas, Timeless Treasures, Wilson, Windham and Princes Mirah) in a large variety of colors and prints. Fabrics are found in groups of floral, foods, animals, farm scenes, Americana, baby prints and many other designs. There is also a large selection of quilting books, patterns, notions, embroidery patterns and floss, and many sewn items already made for sale.

Connie expanded into the back portion of the shop to offer more classroom space. This made room for the display of many Elna sewing machines which are available for sale. A Christmas room and a fleece and felt room, with solids, prints, and panels are also available.

To inspire your creativity there are finished items displayed throughout the shop including baby items, table runners, wall hangings, placemats and full size quilts. All items are for sale.

Classes are a part of Creative Notions. We offer classes for all levels from beginning to advanced and those wanting to learn or just improve their skills. We are also available to help 4-H members with their projects…just give us a call.

We also put quilts together for people who are not sewers or just don’t have the time to sew but would like that special gift or quilt for that special someone.

Creative Notions belongs to the Nebraska Independent Fabric Shops (NIFS) which has sponsored a Shop Hop that has taken place every spring. Participating in these events was very enjoyable and we were able to meet a lot of new people.

Stop in and see us at Creative Notions in West Point. We have over 3000 bolts of fabric for you to pick from. I know you’ll have a pleasant visit and as it is with most quilters, you can never have enough fabric!!
